Lacu Sărat

Lacu Sarat is a spa located on the Campia Brăilei, at 5.5 km from Braila. The spa is connected to Brăila by tram, built in 1900, and bus.

Although located in the middle of the plain on the banks of the lake whose name it bears, the spa is surrounded by 70 acres of woodland, which gives it a steppe climate and offers a pleasant place for recreation.

The lake, with a high salt content, is formed by an old course of the Danube, which is now fully completed. The water depth varies between 0.6 m and 1.80 m. The bottom of the lake is over the entire surface covered by a therapeutic mud with a high degree of mineralization. Therapeutic values of water and mud have been praised since 1879.

It is estimated that it is one of the most valuable sapropelic mud and water in the country with the highest salt concentration, the reality is confirmed by the fact that most patients are in better condition at the end of their course.

Resources for the treatment:

  • The sulfur, chlorine, magnesium concentrated water of the lake has a high degree of mineralization more than 80 g / l making the development of a micro-fauna is strongly encouraged, and therefore offers exceptional therapeutic properties;
  • The mud, which is extracted from the lake, has a high content of hydrogen and is used for a wide range of rheumatic diseases to treat.
